Welcome to School Of Film, a project dedicated to film and education. I am Stephanie, I have been a teacher for over 25 years teaching Special Needs and Languages in London and internationally.

Movies have always been a passion of mine and I have used my own studies in film and scriptwriting to deliver film clubs and scriptwriting extra- curriculum workshops in schools. I now draw upon my extensive studies in film and broad experience in teaching to organise and deliver bespoke education- centred film workshops for secondary schools.

Following consultations with teachers, I design film workshops that engage students, provide enrichment opportunities and help to connect their curriculum to real world scenarios.

Examples of workshops that I have delivered recently include: film and International Women’s Day, film and Democracy Week and Maths Week. Further sessions are currently being designed to support other parts of the National Curriculum such as, Film and Macbeth, Black History Month, Film and

Who are they for?

I design film workshops, for all secondary students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, that are fun, challenging and creative. I have lots of experience in working with diverse groups of young people of all abilities, from the ages of 11 to 18, and resources are suitably differentiated to enable all students to access them.

What skills would students practise?

Students will have the opportunity to explore films based on a specific theme or curriculum focus and consider its portrayal in film. Workshops enable participants to develop their existing knowledge of film and encourage use of analytical, evaluative, teamwork and discursive skills to further their understanding not only of the curriculum but also the world around them. Students also enhance their writing, debating and research skills through a variety of collaborative tasks.
